Saint Christopher, the Christ-bearer
Saint Christopher is honored as a martyr of the early Church, and his name means Christ-bearer. The tradition tells that he carried a child across a river and felt the weight of the whole world, for the child was Christ. He became the patron of travelers, and the words Saint Christopher Protect Us circle the scene on this medal.
Giving it as a gift
Often given to a new driver, a godchild at confirmation, a husband who travels for work, or a friend moving far away.
