The Sacred Heart is shown wrapped in thorns and crowned with flames. The devotion spread after Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque, a nun at Paray-le-Monial in France, received visions of Christ in the 1670s. It honors the love of Christ, given fully for every person, and its feast usually falls in June.
