This cross hangs on a fine cable chain in a silver finish, a quiet piece that sits easily at the neckline of a T-shirt, a blouse or a dress shirt. Because the words are part of the design, it is meant to be worn on top of clothing, where people can see them.
The stainless steel can be worn every day, in the shower and at the gym. It suits a confirmation, Christmas, or someone returning to church after years away. Since the hymn is often sung at funerals, it is also a gentle sympathy gift for a grieving family member.
Fragen
What does the Amazing Grace cross say?
The words Amazing Grace are set across the cross, after the title of the well-known Christian hymn.
Who wrote Amazing Grace?
John Newton, an English Anglican clergyman, wrote the words, which were first published in 1779.
Why do people give an Amazing Grace cross to someone grieving?
The hymn is often sung at funerals, and its message of grace received, not earned, brings quiet comfort. Worn on a fine chain, the cross keeps those words close in the weeks after a loss.
Does it come in gold?
No. It comes in a silver finish only, on stainless steel.
Will the words on the Amazing Grace cross stay readable with daily wear?
Yes. The words are part of the stainless steel cross itself, and steel does not rust. A wipe with the microfiber cloth keeps the letters clean.
Can a non-Catholic wear this cross?
Yes. Amazing Grace is sung in Protestant and Catholic churches alike, and the plain cross belongs to every Christian tradition.
The prayer
Amazing grace! How sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found; was blind, but now I see.

John Newton's hymn, made into a cross
John Newton spent his early years at sea and became the captain of slave ships. After a violent storm in 1748 he turned to God, and he later became an Anglican clergyman in Olney, England. He wrote Amazing Grace for his parishioners, and it was published in the Olney Hymns in 1779. In later life he spoke out against the slave trade he had once served. The hymn tells his own story: grace given to someone who had not earned it. On this necklace the two words cross each other to form the cross, in...
