The Gospel of John mentions the nails of the crucifixion when the risen Jesus shows Thomas the marks in his hands. In Christian art the nails are counted among the instruments of the Passion, with the crown of thorns and the spear. In 1940, after Coventry Cathedral in England was bombed, a priest bound three of its medieval roof nails into a cross, which became a sign of reconciliation. This pendant takes the same raw form: nails tied together into the shape of a cross. It comes in polished steel with a silver, gold or black finish.
