The two faces of Mary's medal
The Miraculous Medal has two faces. On the front, Mary stands on a globe with rays falling from her open hands, which Saint Catherine Labouré understood as the graces given to those who ask for them. On the back of the traditional medal, the letter M is topped by a cross, with two hearts below: the Sacred Heart of Jesus crowned with thorns and the Immaculate Heart of Mary pierced by a sword. Twelve stars circle the whole. This small pendant, 25 by 16 mm, shows Mary with open arms in polished silver or gold tone, on a fine cable chain of 45 cm with a 5 cm extender.
Giving it as a gift
Mothers and godmothers often give it at baptism, so the child grows up with it. It also suits a first communion, a confirmation or Mother's Day.
