Measure at home in 2 minutes
You need a strip of paper (or a string or shoelace), a pen and a ruler.
- Take a string or a shoelace and mark on it the length you are considering, for example 50 cm (20").
- Hold the two marks together at the back of your neck, wearing the kind of top you usually wear.
- Look in a mirror: the lowest point of the string is where the chain will sit.
- Too high or too low? Try 5 cm (2") more or less: that is one size up or down.
Already own a chain you like? Lay it flat, clasp closed, and measure it end to end. A broad neck or chest makes every length sit a little higher.
No ruler? A bank card is 8.6 cm (3.4") long: count how many fit along your strip.

How to wear it
On this round medal, a sword crosses a shield marked with a red cross, set against a textured background that gives the design depth. Being round and flat, it sits evenly on the chest and looks at home with casual clothes: a dark T-shirt, a flannel shirt or a hoodie. Under a work shirt it stays discreet.
The polished stainless steel does not rust, so it can stay on in the shower, at the gym or on a job site. It suits a man who likes history and sees faith as something to stand up for, at Christmas or on Father's Day.
Questions
What is on the medal?
A sword and a shield bearing a red cross, the emblem associated with the Templars, on a textured round background.
What is the difference with the Templar's Motto medal?
The Templar's Motto shows a Templar cross framed by its Latin motto and a decorative border. The Crusader's Vow focuses on the knight's arms, the sword and the red-cross shield, with no inscription.
What does the sword stand for on a Christian medal?
Courage and loyalty in faith. Saint Paul calls the word of God the sword of the Spirit in his Letter to the Ephesians.
Is The Crusader's Vow a fitting Father's Day gift?
Yes, for a father who sees faith as a commitment to stand firm and defend what is right. The medal is plain polished steel, easy to wear every day.
Is it a good gift for a teenage boy who loves history?
Yes. Knights, shields and swords appeal to a young history fan, and the medal gives him a sign of faith he will actually want to wear.
What does the shield on The Crusader's Vow stand for?
Faith. Saint Paul speaks of the shield of faith in his Letter to the Ephesians, and on this medal the shield bears the red cross of the Templars.

Its meaning
The red cross of the Templars
The Templars first wore a plain white mantle, granted at the Council of Troyes in 1129. In 1147, Pope Eugene III allowed them to add a red cross, which became the mark of the order. The red is often read as the blood of martyrs, the white as a life given to God: the vows of a knight who was also a monk. Today the image is worn less as a memory of the Crusades than as a sign of standing firm in faith. This round medal shows a sword and a shield bearing the...
