Measure at home in 2 minutes
You need a strip of paper (or a string or shoelace), a pen and a ruler.
- Take a string or a shoelace and mark on it the length you are considering, for example 50 cm (20").
- Hold the two marks together at the back of your neck, wearing the kind of top you usually wear.
- Look in a mirror: the lowest point of the string is where the chain will sit.
- Too high or too low? Try 5 cm (2") more or less: that is one size up or down.
Already own a chain you like? Lay it flat, clasp closed, and measure it end to end. A broad neck or chest makes every length sit a little higher.
No ruler? A bank card is 8.6 cm (3.4") long: count how many fit along your strip.

How to wear it
This full rosary is made of red rose-shaped beads with small green leaves (10 x 9 mm), a gold-tone Our Lady of Guadalupe centerpiece and a 53 x 30 mm openwork silver-tone crucifix. Its color makes it a rosary to display as much as to pray with: hang it by a home altar, keep it in a bag, or hold it during Mass.
The polymer clay beads and alloy parts should stay dry and away from perfume, and it should be handled gently rather than worn every day. It suits December 12, Mother's Day, Christmas, an older child's first communion or a confirmation.
Questions
What are the rose beads made of?
Polymer clay, shaped as red roses with green leaves, about 10 x 9 mm each.
Why are the beads shaped like roses?
The word rosary comes from the Latin for a garland of roses, and roses are part of the story of Our Lady of Guadalupe at Tepeyac.
Is The Guadalupe Roses a complete five-decade rosary?
Yes. Five decades of red rose beads, about 10 x 9 mm each, run on a linked silver-tone chain from the Guadalupe centerpiece to the crucifix.
Can I wear it as a necklace?
It is designed above all for prayer and display. Handle it gently and keep it dry, since polymer clay beads can chip if knocked.
Is it a good gift for a grandmother devoted to Our Lady of Guadalupe?
Yes. Its red roses and Guadalupe centerpiece make it a meaningful gift on December 12, Mother's Day or Christmas.
Can The Guadalupe Roses be blessed for the feast of December 12?
Yes. Any priest or deacon can bless it, and the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe is a natural day to ask. It arrives unblessed, and the blessing is a custom, not an obligation.
The prayer
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
The Hail Mary (Ave Maria), the traditional Marian prayer drawn from the Gospel of Luke

Its meaning
Roses of Tepeyac
In December 1531, Our Lady of Guadalupe asked Saint Juan Diego to gather roses on the hill of Tepeyac, in a season when nothing should have bloomed. When he opened his tilma before the bishop, the roses fell out and her image appeared on the cloth. The word rosary comes from the Latin rosarium, a garland of roses, and each Hail Mary is offered to Mary like a flower. Many Mexican and Mexican American families keep her feast on December 12 with the rosary in hand. This full rosary has red polymer clay rose beads...
Giving it as a gift
