Measure at home in 2 minutes
You need a strip of paper (or a string or shoelace), a pen and a ruler.
- Take a string or a shoelace and mark on it the length you are considering, for example 50 cm (20").
- Hold the two marks together at the back of your neck, wearing the kind of top you usually wear.
- Look in a mirror: the lowest point of the string is where the chain will sit.
- Too high or too low? Try 5 cm (2") more or less: that is one size up or down.
Already own a chain you like? Lay it flat, clasp closed, and measure it end to end. A broad neck or chest makes every length sit a little higher.
No ruler? A bank card is 8.6 cm (3.4") long: count how many fit along your strip.

How to wear it
The 25 x 39 mm medal comes with a 55 or 70 cm box chain. At 55 cm it sits at mid-chest, visible over a T-shirt; at 70 cm it hangs low and disappears easily under a shirt or a jacket, which many travelers prefer. The two-tone design, a gold-tone figure on a silver medal, makes the image easy to read.
The stainless steel can stay on during long drives, flights, showers and workouts. At 28 g it has a reassuring weight. It is a natural gift for a new driver, a son leaving for college or the army, Father's Day or Christmas.
Questions
Which length should I choose, 55 or 70 cm?
55 cm (about 22 in) sits at mid-chest and shows over clothing. 70 cm (about 28 in) hangs low and is easier to keep hidden under a shirt.
Why is the medal two-tone?
The chain and medal are silver-finish steel, and the figure of Saint Christopher is gold tone, so the image stands out clearly.
Will the 25 x 39 mm Saint Christopher medal feel heavy all day?
You will notice it at first: the necklace weighs 28 g. Most people stop feeling it after a few days, and the box chain is made for daily wear.
Why is Saint Christopher shown carrying a child?
By legend he carried a child across a dangerous river and learned the child was Christ, which is where his name, Christ-bearer, comes from. On this medal the saint and the Christ Child are picked out in gold plating.
Is the Voyager's Protector a good send-off gift for someone leaving for college or a long trip?
Yes. Saint Christopher is the patron of travelers, and his medal has long gone with people setting off from home. The 70 cm length lets them keep it under a shirt on the road.
Will the gold-plated figure on the Saint Christopher medal wear off?
Not from water alone, since the medal and chain are stainless steel. The gold-plated figure lasts longest away from perfume, chlorine and rubbing, and a wipe with the microfiber cloth keeps the two tones distinct.
The prayer
Saint Christopher, protect us.

Its meaning
The saint who carried Christ
Christopher means "Christ-bearer." In the legend retold in the Golden Legend, a man of great size served travelers by carrying them across a river, and one night the child on his shoulders grew so heavy he could barely reach the other bank. The child was Christ, who told him he had carried the world and its maker. Christopher, an early martyr, became the patron of travelers, and his medal is clipped to car visors and slipped into suitcases. On this oval medal his figure stands out in gold tone against the silver, on a box...
Giving it as a gift
For a son heading off to college or the army, a new driver with a fresh license, or a father who spends his weeks on the road. Christmas and Father's Day are natural moments.
