The Sacred Heart, love of Christ
The image of the Sacred Heart shows the heart of Christ wrapped in the crown of thorns, with flames and a cross above it. It speaks of a love that burns for every person and that accepted suffering. The devotion grew from the visions of Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque in France in the seventeenth century, and many families consecrate their homes to the Sacred Heart.
