The medal of Saint Benedict, set at the centre of a bracelet you can wear every day. Its cross and old Latin initials have been carried as a sign of protection for centuries.

Saint Benedict at the wrist
Saint Benedict was born in Nursia, in Italy, in the late fifth century, and the monasteries that follow his Rule have prayed and worked for some fifteen centuries. Pope Paul VI named him patron of Europe in 1964. His medal joins a cross to the initials of short Latin prayers, among them a line praying for the light of the holy cross. Catholics turn to it when they ask God's help against temptation and evil, usually on a chain, sometimes on the wrist. Here the medal sits at the center of a gold-tone stainless steel bracelet with an adjustable closure.
Giving it as a gift
For a godchild's confirmation, or a friend who would rather wear a bracelet than a necklace. A small Christmas gift that can be worn every day.
The prayer
Crux sacra sit mihi lux. Non draco sit mihi dux. (May the holy cross be my light. Let not the dragon be my guide.)
Latin verses on the Saint Benedict medal, found in a 1415 manuscript at Metten Abbey, Bavaria

The meaning
