The shield pendant measures about 24 x 35 mm and hangs on a 50 cm twist chain, so it rests on the upper chest. The red enamel and gold-tone wings stand out against a dark T-shirt or sweater, while under a shirt it becomes a private reminder. At 11.5 g it is light enough for daily wear.
The pendant is alloy with enamel, so take it off before a shower, a swim or the gym, and keep it away from perfume. It suits a son, a brother or a friend in a demanding job, a confirmation under Saint Michael's name, Father's Day or Christmas.
Questions
How big is the pendant and how long is the chain?
The pendant is about 24 x 35 mm, on a 50 cm (about 20 in) twist chain. It weighs 11.5 g.
What does the red dragon represent?
It is the dragon of the Book of Revelation, chapter 12, which Saint Michael defeats: a traditional image of evil overcome.
Will water damage the red enamel of The Saint Michael Crest?
It can, over time. The shield is alloy with red enamel and an antiqued finish, so keep it dry and away from perfume.
Is it a good confirmation gift for a boy who chose Saint Michael?
Yes. Its colors and shield shape appeal to teenagers, and it marks the saint he chose.
Can a non-Catholic wear a Saint Michael pendant?
Yes. Saint Michael is named in the Bible, and Orthodox and Anglican Christians honor him too.
Can a priest bless The Saint Michael Crest even though it is a shield, not a round medal?
Yes. A priest or deacon can bless an image of a saint whatever its shape, often after Mass. It arrives unblessed, and the blessing is a custom rather than a requirement.
The prayer
Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
Prayer to Saint Michael, composed by Pope Leo XIII in 1886

Sa signification
Saint Michael and the dragon
In the Book of Revelation, Michael and his angels fight against the dragon and cast him out of heaven (Revelation 12:7-9). That scene became the classic image of the archangel: winged, armed, standing over evil defeated. Catholics turn to him as defender of the faithful and patron of those who protect others, and many pray the prayer to Saint Michael asking him to defend us in battle. Here he stands over the red dragon with a cross above his head. The shield pendant is antiqued silver-tone alloy with gold-tone wings and deep red enamel, on...
