Comment le porter

This stretch bracelet measures about 16 cm around and slips over the hand, alternating 8 mm tiger's eye beads with 10 mm Saint Benedict medals, with a 23 x 12 mm crucifix hanging from the clasp bead. At 16 cm it fits a slimmer wrist snugly; it sits well alone or beside a watch on the same arm.

The stone and alloy medals should stay dry, so take it off before washing up, showering or swimming. At 19.4 g it has a pleasant weight. It suits a godchild's confirmation, a friend going through a hard season, or Easter.

Questions

Is the 16 cm Benedict Tiger's Eye too small for a large wrist?

It may be. The stretch cord measures about 16 cm (6.3 in) around and suits small to average wrists; if yours is larger, write to us before ordering.

What is tiger's eye?

A brown stone with golden bands that shimmer as it moves. Here it is cut into 8 mm round beads.

Will water harm the stretch cord of The Benedict Tiger's Eye?

It can. Water weakens the cord and dulls the antiqued finish of the medals, so keep the bracelet dry.

What do the medals show?

Each 10 mm medal shows Saint Benedict on one side and the cross of his medal on the other, and the crucifix carries the Saint Benedict medal too.

Why does The Benedict Tiger's Eye repeat the Saint Benedict medal all around the wrist?

So the medal is never out of sight: the saint on one side, the cross with the letters of an old prayer against evil on the other. It serves as a reminder to pray, not as a charm.

Does The Benedict Tiger's Eye go with a watch on a man's wrist?

Yes. The warm brown stone pairs well with a watch or a leather strap, as long as the 16 cm stretch fits his wrist.

The prayer

Crux sacra sit mihi lux, non draco sit mihi dux. Vade retro Satana, numquam suade mihi vana. Sunt mala quae libas, ipse venena bibas. (May the holy cross be my light; let not the dragon be my guide. Begone, Satan, never suggest vain things to me. What you offer is evil; drink the poison yourself.)

Sa signification

The medal of Saint Benedict

The Saint Benedict medal has been worn by Catholics for centuries. The front shows Saint Benedict holding the cross and the book of his Rule. The back carries the cross with the letters C S P B, for Cross of the Holy Father Benedict, and the initials of a Latin prayer against evil, beginning "May the holy cross be my light." Catholics wear it as a sign of trust in God's protection and a call to prayer.
