Darkness and light, as at Tenebrae
During Holy Week, many churches keep an old service called Tenebrae, Latin for darkness. Psalms are sung while the candles are put out one by one, until the church is almost dark. One candle is hidden away, then brought back at the end, a sign that the light of Christ is not overcome. A cross of dark stones with small bright accents follows the same contrast. This pendant sets oval stones along the arms: black with small crystal accents, clear crystal, or several colors, in a silver or gold finish.
