Saint Christopher is the patron of travelers. An old legend tells of a strong man who carried people across a dangerous river, and who one night carried a child who grew heavier with every step: the child was Christ, bearing the weight of the world. His name means Christ-bearer. Drivers and anyone often on the road ask for his protection, and many keep his image in the car or on the hand.
