The Miraculous Medal
In 1830, in the chapel of the Rue du Bac in Paris, Mary showed Saint Catherine Labouré the design of this medal and asked that it be struck. The front shows Mary with rays of grace falling from her hands, encircled by the prayer of the medal. The back carries the cross, the letter M and the hearts of Jesus and Mary, ringed by twelve stars.
