The Latin cross
The Latin cross, with its longer lower arm, is the form of the cross Christians recognize at first sight. It recalls the death and resurrection of Christ, the heart of the Christian faith, and for centuries believers have worn it as a simple statement of what they hold true. Saint Paul wrote that he would glory in nothing save the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ (Galatians 6:14). Many wear a cross close to the heart as a daily reminder of that hope.
