Measure at home in 2 minutes
You need a strip of paper (or a string or shoelace), a pen and a ruler.
- Take a string or a shoelace and mark on it the length you are considering, for example 50 cm.
- Hold the two marks together at the back of your neck, wearing the kind of top you usually wear.
- Look in a mirror: the lowest point of the string is where the chain will sit.
- Too high or too low? Try 5 cm more or less: that is one size up or down.
Already own a chain you like? Lay it flat, clasp closed, and measure it end to end. A broad neck or chest makes every length sit a little higher.
No ruler? A bank card is 8.6 cm long: count how many fit along your strip.

How to wear it
At 45.5 x 34 mm this is a substantial cross, on a 60 cm (23.6 in) box chain. It falls on the lower chest, which gives a large pendant room to hang straight; over a dark T-shirt or a henley the knotwork stands out. The front is polished and the back matte, so it does not slide around against the skin.
The stainless steel does not rust, so it can stay on in the shower, at the gym or on a hike. Its size suits a man with a broad build who likes jewelry with some presence. It is a natural gift for Father's Day or Christmas.
Questions
What does Enduring Knot mean?
The name refers to the Celtic knotwork that fills the cross: lines woven over and under each other in an unbroken pattern, often read as a sign of eternity and of a faith that lasts.
What kind of cross shape is The Enduring Knot?
A cross whose wide arms flare toward the ends, filled with Celtic knotwork. It measures 45.5 x 34 mm, polished on the front and matte on the back.
Do I need Irish or Scottish roots to wear a Celtic cross?
No. Celtic crosses come from the early Christian art of Ireland and Britain, but they are a Christian sign that anyone can wear.
Why is the back matte?
The front is polished to show the knotwork; the back is matte, a finish that is softer against the skin and shows fewer marks.
Where does the knotwork on The Enduring Knot come from?
From early Christian Ireland. Irish monks filled their gospel books with such interlaced knots, joining the art of their people to the Christian faith.
Is the 60 cm chain long enough for a big guy?
Yes. 60 cm (23.6 in) falls on the lower chest on most men and still sits on the chest of a broad build, the length usually advised for a large cross.
The prayer
Christ be with me, Christ within me, Christ behind me, Christ before me, Christ beside me, Christ to win me, Christ to comfort and restore me.

Its meaning
Wide arms filled with interlace
This cross widens toward the ends of its arms, and every arm is filled with interlace. Knotwork of this kind came into Christian art through the monasteries of Ireland and Britain. The Lindisfarne Gospels, made in Northumbria in the early eighth century, set whole pages of it before each Gospel. The monks took a pattern their people already loved and placed it around the cross. Many men of Irish, Scottish or Welsh descent wear such a piece for both faith and family history. Here the front is polished, the back is matte, and the pendant...
Giving it as a gift
Give it to your husband on Father's Day, or to a brother who still talks about his trip to Ireland. Its size makes it right for a man who likes jewelry with some weight.
