Size guide
Find your ring size
Measure at home in 2 minutes
You need a strip of paper (or a string or shoelace), a pen and a ruler.
With a ring that fits (most accurate)
- Lay a ring you wear on that finger on the ruler and measure the inside diameter, edge to edge, in millimetres.
- Find that diameter in the table below.
With a strip of paper
- Wrap the strip around the base of your finger: it must still slide over the knuckle.
- Mark where it overlaps, lay it flat and measure it in millimetres: that is the circumference. Find it in the table below.
Measure at the end of the day, when fingers are slightly larger.
No ruler? A bank card is 8.6 cm long: count how many fit along your strip.

How to wear it
The face shows praying hands holding a rosary and a cross, in two tones: silver and gold finish on the same ring, so it goes with both a steel watch and a gold wedding band. Sizes run from US 7 to US 13; the decorated face sits snug, so take the larger size if you are between two.
The polished stainless steel can stay on in the shower, at the gym and at work. Wear it on the ring finger or the middle finger, where you see it when you fold your hands. It suits Father's Day, a confirmation or Christmas.
Questions
What sizes does The Steadfast Prayer praying hands ring come in?
US 7 to US 13, about 54.4 to 69.7 mm of finger circumference. Between two sizes, take the larger one.
Is it silver or gold?
Both tones on one ring: polished stainless steel with a silver finish and gold-tone details. It is not made of precious metal.
Can a Protestant wear a ring with a rosary on it?
Yes. Praying hands are a sign of prayer shared by all Christians; the rosary is a Catholic devotion, so some Protestants prefer a ring with the cross alone.
Is it a good gift for my grandfather?
Yes, for a man who prays every day. Check his size on a ring he already wears, or measure a strip of paper around his finger.
Where does the praying hands image on The Steadfast Prayer come from?
Praying hands are an image of devotion made famous by Albrecht Dürer's drawing of 1508. On this ring they hold a rosary, with a cross below.
Should The Steadfast Prayer be blessed before I give it?
It is up to you. The ring arrives unblessed; a priest or deacon can bless it, usually after Mass, but it can be given and worn without a blessing.
The prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Its meaning
Praying hands, from Dürer to the signet
The image of two hands joined in prayer owes much to Albrecht Dürer, who drew a pair of praying hands in 1508 as a study for an altarpiece. The drawing became one of the most copied Christian images, printed on cards, carved in wood and cast in metal. Joined hands are also the posture many children learn first when they are taught to pray. On this ring, the hands hold a rosary that ends in a cross, so one image brings together personal prayer, devotion to Mary and the cross of Christ. It is two-tone...
Giving it as a gift
For a father or grandfather who starts each morning in prayer, this makes a fitting Father's Day gift. A godparent can also give it to a young man at confirmation, or slip it into a Christmas stocking.
