This small pendant holds a faceted red crystal heart inside a band of thorns, with flames above it, on a fine cable chain of 45 cm with a 5 cm extender. At 45 cm it sits just below the collarbone, where the red catches the eye against a white blouse, a navy dress or a simple knit.
The pendant is copper with a gold-tone or silver-tone finish, so keep it away from water and perfume and take it off before a shower or a swim. It suits a goddaughter's confirmation, the Feast of the Sacred Heart, Mother's Day or Christmas.
Questions
What is the Sacred Heart of Jesus?
A Catholic devotion to the heart of Christ as a sign of his love, usually shown surrounded by thorns and topped with flames, as on this pendant.
When is the Feast of the Sacred Heart?
It is celebrated on the Friday after the second Sunday after Pentecost, usually in June, which makes June a natural month to give it.
Is the chain of The Sacred Heart Flame adjustable?
Yes. It is a fine 45 cm (about 18 in) cable chain with a 5 cm (2 in) extender, so it can be worn from 45 to 50 cm.
Is the red stone a ruby?
No. It is a faceted red crystal.
Will the plating of The Sacred Heart Flame wear in water?
It can. The pendant is copper with a gold-plated or silver-tone finish, so keep it dry and away from perfume.
What differs between the gold and silver Sacred Heart Flame?
Besides the color, the gold version adds a tiny crystal cross among the flames. Both share the same deep red faceted crystal heart.
The prayer
Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in Thee.

Sa signification
The Sacred Heart of Jesus
The Sacred Heart of Jesus is shown wrapped in thorns and crowned with flames: the love of Christ, given fully for every person. The devotion spread after Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque, a Visitation nun at Paray-le-Monial in France, received visions of Christ in the 1670s. Its feast is kept on a Friday, usually in June, and many Catholic families pray, Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in Thee.
