Measure at home in 2 minutes
You need a strip of paper (or a string or shoelace), a pen and a ruler.
- Take a string or a shoelace and mark on it the length you are considering, for example 20".
- Hold the two marks together at the back of your neck, wearing the kind of top you usually wear.
- Look in a mirror: the lowest point of the string is where the chain will sit.
- Too high or too low? Try 2" more or less: that is one size up or down.
Already own a chain you like? Lay it flat, clasp closed, and measure it end to end. A broad neck or chest makes every length sit a little higher.
No ruler? A bank card is 3.4" long: count how many fit along your strip.

How to wear it
Choose 3 mm for a large crucifix or a heavy medal, 2 mm for a smaller cross or a lighter look. For length: 45 cm sits just below the collarbone, 50 cm on the upper chest, 55 cm mid-chest, 60 cm low on the chest; 65 and 70 cm hang lower still, easy to wear under a shirt or over a thick sweater.
The polished stainless steel and its lobster clasp handle the shower, the gym and daily wear. Worn alone, the 3 mm chain is a clean unisex piece; with a second chain, keep at least 5 cm between lengths.
Questions
Which width do I need for a heavy medal?
3 mm. It is the sturdier of the two and suits a large crucifix or a heavy saint medal. The 2 mm suits a small or medium cross.
What lengths are available?
45, 50, 55, 60, 65 and 70 cm, in both the 2 mm and the 3 mm width.
Which length suits a large cross?
55 cm, or 60 cm on a broad build, so the cross rests on the chest instead of pressing at the collarbone.
Will the chain fit through my pendant's loop?
Check the inside of the loop: it needs to be a little wider than the chain, so more than 2 mm or 3 mm. The lobster clasp also has to pass through if you thread it from that end.
Is it a men's or women's chain?
Both. It is a unisex chain; the 2 mm reads finer on a woman, the 3 mm stronger on a man.
Does it come with a pendant?
No. It is the chain alone, sold to carry a cross or medal you already own.

Its meaning
A chain strong enough for a crucifix
A chain has no meaning of its own. Its job is to carry the medal or cross that does. This one is a classic O-link chain in polished stainless steel, with round links and a lobster clasp. The 3 mm width suits a large crucifix or a heavier Saint Michael or Saint Benedict medal, while the 2 mm is better for a smaller cross. Six lengths, from 45 to 70 cm, let you choose where the pendant falls, from close to the neck down to mid-chest and below. When a medal arrives on a thin...
Giving it as a gift
Pair it with a medal for a confirmation or Christmas gift, or give it alone to someone whose cross still hangs on the thin chain it came with.
