Our Lady of Guadalupe, patroness of the Americas
In December 1531, Mary appeared to Saint Juan Diego on the hill of Tepeyac, near Mexico City. Her image was found on his cloak, the tilma, still kept today in the Basilica of Guadalupe. She is shown with joined hands, a mantle of stars and a crown of rays, standing on the moon held by an angel. Her feast is celebrated on December 12.
