This image of Mary standing in prayer within a field of rays follows the manner of Our Lady of Guadalupe, who appeared to Saint Juan Diego at Tepeyac, near Mexico City, in 1531. The rays speak of the light of God around her, and her joined hands show her at prayer. The rose at her feet recalls the rosary, whose name comes from a garland of roses offered to Mary.
