Measure at home in 2 minutes
You need a strip of paper (or a string or shoelace), a pen and a ruler.
- Take a string or a shoelace and mark on it the length you are considering, for example 20".
- Hold the two marks together at the back of your neck, wearing the kind of top you usually wear.
- Look in a mirror: the lowest point of the string is where the chain will sit.
- Too high or too low? Try 2" more or less: that is one size up or down.
Already own a chain you like? Lay it flat, clasp closed, and measure it end to end. A broad neck or chest makes every length sit a little higher.
No ruler? A bank card is 3.4" long: count how many fit along your strip.
Still unsure? Ask us, a real person replies within 24 hours.

How to wear it
This crucifix comes on a Byzantine chain in six lengths, from 55 to 80 cm. At 55 to 60 cm it sits at mid to lower chest and shows over a T-shirt; from 65 cm and beyond it hangs low enough to wear under a shirt and pull out to pray. A Byzantine chain is dense and woven, so it suits a man who likes a substantial piece.
The stainless steel can stay on every day, through showers and workouts. It suits Easter, Father's Day or a confirmation, especially for a man who prays the Our Father every day.
Questions
Which chain length should I choose?
55 cm (about 22 in) sits at mid-chest and is the most visible. 60 to 65 cm falls lower, and 70 to 80 cm is long enough to wear under a shirt.
What is a Byzantine chain?
A dense chain of interwoven links that forms a rounded, rope-like pattern. It is heavier and more textured than a simple cable chain.
What prayer is engraved on the crucifix?
The Lord's Prayer, also known as the Our Father, prayed by Christians of every tradition.
Can a non-Catholic wear this crucifix?
Yes. The Lord's Prayer is prayed by every Christian tradition, and any Christian can wear a crucifix with respect.
Is it a good Father's Day gift?
Yes, especially for a father who prays the Our Father every day and likes a substantial chain.
Will the engraved Our Father on The Reverent Prayer wear smooth?
Not from water or daily wear: the prayer is engraved in stainless steel, which does not rust. On the gold version, perfume and chlorine wear the finish long before they touch the engraving.
The prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Its meaning
The Our Father on a crucifix
The Our Father is the prayer Jesus gave his disciples when they asked him how to pray, as both Matthew and Luke record. Christians of every church know it, and many say it every day, in the morning, at Mass or at the bedside. This crucifix carries its words engraved on the cross itself, in Spanish, beginning "Padre nuestro que estás en el cielo." Pairing the prayer with the figure of Christ joins what Christians say to God with what they believe he did on the cross. It hangs on a heavy Byzantine chain, from...
