The face of the ring reproduces the front of the Saint Benedict medal: the saint holding the cross and his Rule, encircled by a Latin prayer for his presence at the hour of death. The IHS on one shoulder is the monogram of the name of Jesus. The M on the other honors Mary, His Mother.
