The cross measures 3 x 5 cm (30 x 50 mm) and hangs on a 60 cm (23.6 in) box chain, so it rests on the lower chest. The engraving is fine, so it is a piece to look at up close rather than a statement from across the room. It sits well over a T-shirt or a plain sweater and disappears under a buttoned shirt.
The stainless steel does not rust, so it can stay on in the shower and at the gym. Black reads quietly with dark clothes, silver and gold show the lettering more. It suits a confirmation, Father's Day or Christmas.
Fragen
What prayer is engraved on the cross?
The Lord's Prayer, also called the Our Father, the prayer Jesus taught his disciples in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. The whole prayer is engraved across the cross.
Can you actually read the words?
Yes, up close. The text is small because the full prayer fits on a 3 x 5 cm cross, so it reads like a fine engraving rather than large lettering.
Is the Lord's Prayer the same for Catholics and Protestants?
Almost. Many Protestants end it with "For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory", which Catholics also pray at Mass, just after the prayer itself.
Where does the 3 x 5 cm Engraved Prayer cross fall on its 60 cm box chain?
On the lower chest, below a T-shirt collar. It hangs close enough to lift and read the prayer, and low enough to wear under a shirt.
Is the Lord's Prayer easier to read on the silver Engraved Prayer than on the black?
Yes. Bright steel shows fine engraving most clearly, gold a little less, and black is the most discreet, for someone who keeps the words for himself.
Is it a good gift for a godchild?
Yes. The Our Father is usually the first prayer a child learns, which makes this a fitting confirmation gift from a godparent.
The prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

The prayer Jesus taught, engraved
When his disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray, he gave them the words now called the Lord's Prayer, recorded in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. It is the one prayer said by Catholics, Orthodox and Protestants alike, at baptisms, weddings and funerals, and in many homes at bedtime. Many people learned it as children and still know it by heart. This cross carries the full text across its arms in small engraved lines. It measures 3 by 5 cm and hangs on a 60 cm box chain, in polished stainless steel with...
